You can often get electricity the same day with no deposit in Texas by choosing a prepaid plan. Prepaid plans can't charge a deposit, and the starting balance for a home is capped at $75 plus utility fees. Same-day service usually needs an existing smart meter and enrollment before the provider's evening cutoff, Monday to Saturday.

What do I need for same-day electricity?
- An existing smart meter at the address. Prepaid service requires an advanced meter, and same-day offers depend on one. R498DE
- Enrollment and payment before the provider's cutoff. Direct Energy, for example, says move-in requests after 6 p.m. Central are connected the next business day, and switches after 5 p.m. the next business day. Why might my power not turn on the same day?
Providers note that timing depends on your local utility and can slip because of meter issues, switch holds, system outages, weather, Sundays, holidays or late payment. PPDE Some offers also exclude holidays. If you need power by a set date, enroll as early in the day as you can.
How do I get same-day electricity with no deposit?

- Enroll and pay the connection balance plus fees before the cutoff.

What happens when my electricity contract ends?
If you don't pick a new plan, your provider must move you to a default month-to-month plan that you can cancel at any time without a fee, and its price can change each billing cycle. R475 Your provider must also send you contract expiration notices before the end date. Can I get electricity turned on the same day in Texas?
